What We Allow is What Will Continue

It's been said that we teach others how to treat us.

Let that sink in for a moment.

We either allow people to treat us with less than we deserve or we don't.
We either allow ourselves to be in a job that slowly chisels away at our happiness or we don't.
We either allow ourselves to expend energy/love/emotion on those who don't feel the same way or we don't.
We either chase our dreams or we don't.
We either treat our bodies as temples or we don't.
We either push ourselves towards greatness or we don't.

It's that simple.

So, the next time you find yourself making excuses when someone treats you unfairly... or when you find yourself staying in a situation that brings you pain... or when you're making excuses because you're just too tired to workout or cook a healthy meal, remind yourself:

Lately, I've become very decisive and brazen. I've decided to no longer allow myself to be treated unfairly or to become someones' option or second best. One of the benefits of getting older is that each year, my worth becomes more apparent. It has become much easier to determine and truly understand my self-worth now as opposed to when I was in my 20s. Sometimes it's not easy to be bold and outspoken. Whether it's a friend who takes more than they give, or a relationship that either brings you more pain than joy or feels one-sided, I encourage and challenge you to take a stand for yourself.

You are beautiful. You are worthy of love. You are perfect just as you are. Start believing it and everyone around you who matters will too.

XO,
Jenn
